Cancer risk in unhealthy US college students

American college students are engaging in unhealthy behaviours that could increase their future risk of cancer, according to a new study.

Researchers surveyed a diverse group of over 30,000 college goers, found 95% didn’t eat the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables each day, and over 60% didn’t do enough physical activity.

Principal investigator Brian Hitsman said the study highlighted how changing unhealthy behaviours in college students now could be a way to reduce the risk of cancer and other diseases later in life.
