While autism, schizophrenia, ADHD and x-linked intellectual disabilities are caused by a complex interaction of factors, they may share a common genetic cause, researchers found.
The study collated and analysed a broad data set on these disorders and found that some gene interactions were linked to all four, with others linked to one or more.
They created a theoretical model of the origins of these disorders that may lead to better diagnosis and treatment.
