Increase in adolescent knee injuries

Rates of knee injuries in children have significantly increased over the past 12 years, according to research from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The knee injuries were a consequence of higher rates of sports participation and included tears of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

The research is hoped to highlight risks and encourage coaches, parents, and athletes to add injury-prevention programs to their training.
