Pre-match acts fail to draw youth

Australian youth are more likely to attend football games for reasons of friendship rather than pre-game entertainment.

The study conducted by Deakin University, partly funded by the AFL, surveyed 909 people between the ages of 20 and 30.

Dr Bednell, who led the research, found that the best way to boost attendance is to build on the social networks of existing fans.
