Queensland women who give birth in private hospitals struggle to attract the same quality of post-natal care than women in public hospitals.
The Having a Baby in Queensland Survey revealed one-third of women who birthed in private hospitals would have liked more support. Just 42% of women who birthed in private hospitals rated their after-hospital postnatal care highly.
Researchers say a range of factors influenced the result, including receiving conflicting advice, pressure to breastfeed without support, and feeling like care providers were too busy to help.
