Associate Professor, History, MacEwan University

I am a historian of the British Empire. My recent book Barbed-Wire Imperialism: Britain's Empire of Camps, 1876-1903 (UC Press, 2017) won the Stansky Book Prize from the North American Conference on British Studies and the Wallace K. Ferguson Prize from the Canadian Historical Association. My research offers an important and often unexplored angle to understand the current refugee and migrant crisis across the world.
