Lecturer in Law & Head of the Caribbean Environmental Law Unit, Faculty of Law and Co-I, One Ocean Hub, The University of the West Indies, Barbados

I am a Guyanese-Barbadian environmental, energy & human rights lawyer, academic, and natural resources specialist. Currently, I lecture in International Environmental & Energy Law, and am the Head of the recently formed Environmental Law, Ocean Governance & Climate Justice Unit (ELOG&CJ Unit) of the Faculty of Law. I am also a Co-Investigator and a Member of the Executive Team of the UKRI GCRF-funded One Ocean Hub, and serve as the Regional Deputy Director of the Global Network for Human Rights and the Environment for the Caribbean Region.

My specialisations are in international, regional (CARICOM & OECS) and comparative marine environmental law, climate law, international human rights law, the law of the blue economy and international energy law. Within these areas, I have increasingly incorporated into my research a focus on human rights, in particular the rights of minority groups, children, and youth to a clean, healthy, sustainable environment; business & human rights; human rights approaches to international investment law, and climate justice.
