PhD Candidate and Lecturer in Law, Northumbria University, Newcastle

Alexander graduated from Newcastle University in 2015 with an LLB (Hons) and is a PhD Candidate at Northumbria University. His PhD is entitled Same-Sex Marriage and the Homonormative Legal Identity: The emergence and effect of the Homonormative and Homoradical identities on LGBTQ legal narratives. Alexander is investigating the Marriage (Same-Sex Couples) Act 2013 and the way in which it constructs homonormativity or the homoradical from a queer theoretical standpoint. His research interests include family law, queer theory, feminist theory, and same-sex marriage, and is part of the Northumbria University Gender, Sexuality and Law Research Interest Group. He is under the supervision of Professor Chris Ashford and Ms Frances Hamilton, whos' research interests also include intersections between law and sexuality.
