Aline Jaeckel is a Research Fellow at Macquarie Law School. Her work focusses on the regulation of deep seabed mineral mining in areas beyond national jurisdiction. In particular, her research examines environmental protection standards and mechanisms in the context of deep seabed mining. She is the author of 'The International Seabed Authority and the Precautionary Principle' (Brill, Jan 2017). Previously, she has worked with the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, Germany, for a project on ecological parameters for deep seabed mining.
