Alison is a Lecturer in Health Psychology at Staffordshire University, with an interest in health promotion and body image. After graduating from Staffordshire University with a degree in Psychology, she went on to complete a Masters in Health Psychology, before carrying out a PhD. Her PhD explored appearance focussed skin cancer prevention interventions, seeing whether showing people the impact that using sunbeds and not using sun protection could have on their skin in the future, impacted on their sun protection intentions and behaviours. The research involved using a piece of computer software that enables viewers to see their faces ageing up to the age of 72. After completing her PhD, Alison has gone on to carry out research in various areas of appearance and health promotion, and has authored over 20 peer reviewed articles.
