Associate Professor in Bioengineering, University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau

My research interests focus on understanding how we get oxygen from our environment, before and after birth, and using this new knowledge to improve diagnosis and treatment strategies when things go wrong. I develop computational models of lungs, the placenta and ovaries, which account for complexities in their structure and can predict the impact of disease on organ function. My expertise lies in developing efficient and reliable methods for modelling physical processes that occur simultaneously in complex networks of tissue and blood vessels.
