Dr Cheskin is a lecturer in Central and East European Studies at the University of Glasgow. His current research investigates the identity positions of Russians and Russian speakers outside of Russia with a particular focus on Latvia and Ukraine.
His work investigates the cultural, political, and economic attachments that Russians/Russian speakers have towards Russia and towards their state of residence. Central themes of his research are collective memory, Russian soft power, and the discursive construction of identity.
