Amy Elton is a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Newcastle. Prior to her candidature, Amy completed a LLB (Hons) and a BA, majoring in Politics and International Affairs.

Amy’s main research interests include the political and legal developments in Australia’s asylum seeker policy. Her PhD thesis ‘Mandatory Detention, Asylum Seekers and Questions of Justice’ is centred on Australia’s immigration detention policy, examining the validity of domestic measures under international human rights law.
