André Janse van Rensburg

André Janse van Rensburg is a researcher at the Centre for Health Systems Research & Development, University of the Free State. He has worked on a range of research projects, ranging from school-based violence, hospital infection control, TB prevention, policy and programme implementation processes and mental health care. His principal research interests include public policy, health care reform, and politics and ethics in health care. He held an EU Saturn visiting scholarship at the Department of Sociology of Ghent University, Belgium, within the Health and Demographic Research group (HeDeRa). Currently he is a joint PhD candidate in political science at Stellenbosch University, and sociology at Ghent University, Belgium. His doctoral research focuses on the influences of governance and power relations in mental health care integration processes in South Africa.
