Assistant Professor of Psychology, New York University

Andrea Vial earned a PhD in social psychology from Yale University in 2018 and is now Assistant Professor of Psychology at New York University Abu Dhabi, where she leads the Social Roles & Beliefs Lab (www.SocialRolesLab.com). Her main area of expertise is on psychological factors that produce and maintain gender segregation. Her empirical and theoretical work has examined various ways that gender can impact workplace relations and behaviors and career outcomes. She also investigates how gender stereotypes impact self-views and motivation in ways that contribute to gender disparities. Dr. Vial’s research has been published in top journals such as Psychological Science, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and The Leadership Quarterly. Media outlets such as The New York Post, Forbes Magazine, and NPR have covered her work.
