Associate Professor, Defence Studies Department, King's College London

Dr Andreas Krieg is an associate professor in Security Studies at King’s College London and a fellow at King’s Institute of Middle Eastern Studies, currently seconded to the Royal College of Defence Studies. In his research Andreas has focused on non-state violence across a range of domains with a geographic focus on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. More recently he has focused on assemblages between state and non-state actors in the developing world and the cyber space, which provided the foundation for his 2019 Georgetown University Press (GUP) monograph Surrogate Warfare. His forthcoming GUP monograph looks at subversion as the weaponization of narratives in the information space. Outside of academia, Dr Krieg drew on his extensive networks in the MENA region to setup MENA analytica – a London-based political risk consultancy firm.
