I am a Lecturer in Voluntary Sector Management within the Centre for Charity Effectiveness, Bayes Business School, City University of London. Prior to joining Bayes, I was a Research Fellow at both the Third Sector Research Centre and the Health Services Management Centre at the University of Birmingham, and previously Director of the Institute for Volunteering Research, at Volunteering England. I have extensive experience of researching and teaching on various aspects of voluntary actions, including being co-investigator on two recent studies funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. I am co-author of Volunteering and Society in the 21st Century (2010, Palgrave Macmillan) and numerous book chapters, reports and articles on different aspects of voluntary action.
