Lecturer in International Relations, SOAS, University of London

I am currently Lecturer in International Relations in the Department of Politics and International Studies at SOAS, University of London. Prior to joining SOAS in 2021, I worked at De Montfort University in Leicester for five years, latterly as Senior Lecturer in International Politics. My research is grounded in international political sociology, and my peer-reviewed outputs have appeared in journals including Security Dialogue and International Political Sociology. I am currently working on a textbook on Global Politics for Bloomsbury Publishing, and my recent publications have explored Islamophobia and racial capitalism, austerity, the rise of the new far right, the so-called 'culture wars' and ideological battles over 'free speech'. I hold a PhD in International Politics, am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and winner of the Political Studies Association's (PSA) Bernard Crick Prize for Outstanding Teaching (2019). Outside of academia, I have worked as a social policy researcher, NGO director, and community organiser.
