Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Oxford

Betty Raman is an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and British Heart Foundation Oxford Centre of Research Excellence Transition Intermediate Clinical Research Fellow at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, UK. She has expertise in post-COVID syndromes and multiorgan phenotyping. As the chief investigator of the C-MORE study (UK-wide COVID-19 follow-up MRI imaging study), Professor Raman has pioneered research into the long-term effects of COVID-19 on cardiovascular and multiple organ health. She is on the board of three NIHR-funded national COVID-19 follow-up studies and has completed one of UK’s first randomized double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trials in Long COVID. In parallel to these efforts, as an academic cardiologist, Professor Raman researches Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a common inherited heart condition responsible for sudden cardiac death in the young.
