Associate Professor, European Studies, University of Sydney

Bronwyn Winter works in the European Studies program at the University of Sydney. She also teaches in International and Global Studies and International and Comparative Literary Studies.

Her publications include Hijab and the Republic: Uncovering the French Headscarf Debate (Syracuse University Press 2008), and her next book, to be published in 2016, follows on from her work on the international anthology September 11, 2001: Feminist Perspectives (Hawthorne and Winter eds, Spinifex 2002).

She is currently working on lesbian and gay human rights, on a co-edited book project on the State and gay marriage across the world, and on two projects within the context of the European Union: lesbian and gay asylum, and women, race and politics.
