Candice Christie

Dr Candice Christie is Head of Department: Human Kinetics and Ergonomics at Rhodes University. She completed her undergraduate degree in Human Movement Studies at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 1994, and her BSc (Med)(Hons) Exercise Science (Biokinetics) degree from the University of Cape Town in 1995. She then worked for a number of years at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa before coming to Rhodes University in 1999. Here she obtained her MSc and PhD degrees and her Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education. She is a National Research Foundation (NRF) rated scientist and has attracted funding through the NRFs Competitive Fund for Rated Researchers, the Medical Research Council of South Africa and Rhodes University. Her research interests are specifically related to exercise interventions for cardiovascular health promotion in female populations and understanding fatigue mechanisms in intermittent sports such as cricket.
