Carl Sellgren is a trained psychiatrist and a cellular biologist in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Karolinska Institutet in Solna, Sweden. His work focuses on disease pathology influencing brain development. He obtained his MD and PhD at Karolinska Institutet and undertook his postdoctoral training at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in Cambridge, MA, USA. His laboratory develops and applies 3D models of brain development based on induced pluripotent stem cells. Patient-derived cells are obtained from their own clinical cohorts or through national and international collaborations.
