Assistant Professor of Global Studies, Gardner-Webb University

Dr. Casey Delehanty is an Assistant Professor of Global Studies for the Department of Social Science. He heads up the Global Studies Program, and teaches a variety of courses within the fields of International Relations and Comparative Politics. Dr. Delehanty is also the faculty advisor for the Gardner-Webb Model UN delegation.

Dr. Delehanty earned his B.A. at Florida Gulf Coast University and his M.S. and Ph.D. at Florida State University. His dissertation, ‘Gimme Shelter,’ The Hidden Causes and Consequences of Internal Displacement focuses on the forced migration in civil conflicts, specifically the causes and consequences of internal displacement. His most recent published piece, “Militarization and Police Violence: The Case of the 1033 Program” appeared in the journal Research and Politics, and a summary of the piece appeared in the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage blog.

Dr. Delehanty’s non-academic interests include NBA basketball, board games, history, movies, and eating good food.
