Cate Watson's interest in humour as a methodology for the social sciences started when she realized that irony is the fundamental Law of the Universe. Since then she has been trying to persuade others (with varying degrees of success). She is the author of 'Comedy and Social Science: towards a methodology of funny', published by Routledge, 2015.
