Catherine Butler

Catherine Butler is Research Fellow in Environmental Sociology at Cardiff University. Her research interests include: energy systems change and everyday life; environmental risk governance; socio-cultural dimensions of climate change; environmental justice and ethics; and, adaptation and flood risk management. Her recent research looks at the roles of publics and governing institutions in energy system change for low carbon transitions. A key aspect of this work focuses on developing deeper understanding of the role of civil society in societal processes that embed, sustain and change particular configurations of (un)sustainable practice.
