Assistant Professor, Literacy, Wilfrid Laurier University

Dr. Cathy Miyata is a professor of Literacy at Wilfrid Laurier University. She teaches in the Bachelor of Education and Master of Education programs. Her research interests include literacy, storytelling, the arts, multmodalities, and culturally sustaining pedagogies. She has also been professional storyteller, key note speaker, and professional development facilitator for over 30 years. Cathy has lectured and performed in Greece, Portugal, Germany, Serbia, the United States, Japan, Malaysia, Sweden, Egypt, and across Canada. Cathy has authored 5 books, including two novels for children, and several articles.
