Charles Villet teaches ethics and political philosophy at Monash South Africa (a part of the Laureate International Universities Network) in Johannesburg. He holds an MA in Philosophy from the University of Johannesburg. His current work falls within the fields of postcolonial, whiteness and heterotopian studies. He takes an interest in the work of Foucault and Fanon, who explored the crucial themes of power and resistance in modern societies with oppressive regimes. His doctoral thesis looks at the politics of recognition in South Africa with the focus on the evolving identities of whites beyond Apartheid.
