Charlotte Iverach

PhD candidate, Connected Waters Initiative, UNSW Sydney

Charlotte Iverach is a 2nd year PhD candidate at UNSW Australia whose research is already having an impact on our understanding of the connectivity between coal measures targeted for coal seam gas (CSG) production and overlying aquifers used to supply water for irrigated agriculture. Charlotte’s research is focused on the use of isotope geochemistry to establish pathways of hydraulic connectivity between geological formations in regions of coal seam gas development.

The primary focus of Charlotte’s research is on applying mixing and oxidation models to infer the sources of gases in groundwater. To constrain her interpretations she is also incorporating insights from age dating and other major geochemical parameters.
