Charlotte Thålin

Researcher, Immunology, Karolinska Institutet

Dr. Charlotte Thålin received her Ph.D. at Karolinska Institutet 2017, and now combines her research position with clinical work as a specialist in internal medicine at Danderyd Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. Dr Thålins interest in the immune system developed during her Ph.D. studies when investigating the role of neutrophils in cancer biology. She has since then started her own research group at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Danderyd Hospital, Karolinska Institutet, and is now supervising three Ph.D. students. She initiated the MEDECA study 2017, focusing on the role of neutrophils and neutrophil extracellular traps in cancer. Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, Thålin is the principal investigator of the COMMUNITY (Covid-19 Immunity) study. The COMMUNITY study was initiated in April 2020 and comprises a large longitudinal cohort including 2149 healthcare workers sampled every 4th month. The overall aim is to obtain deep understanding of the generation and dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 immune responses following primary infection and vaccination.
