Chinwe Uzoma Chukwudi

Senior lecturer in Molecular Pathology and Microbial Genetics, University of Nigeria

I am an experienced veterinarian, molecular biologist, and clinical/molecular pathologist. My research interests and skills in biomedical research are in the area of combating infectious diseases, especially via studies in microbial pathogenesis and genetics, antimicrobial mechanisms of action and resistance, molecular pathology and diagnostics, enhanced therapeutics and drug delivery. I have a great passion for uplifting the research profile of diseases peculiar to Africa, many of which have huge prospects for the development of novel intervention strategies but do not receive adequate attention.
Having had a first-hand experience of the impact of infectious disease burden in Africa, and knowing that the sufferings caused could be alleviated with dedicated research into these diseases, I think it is time for us Africans to rise up and solve African problems by ourselves, as well as contribute our quota to global issues.
