Christine Cheyne

Associate Professor, Massey University

Associate Professor Christine Cheyne is Resource & Environmental Planning Programme Co-ordinator in the School of People, Environment and Planning. Her research focuses on local government (including local political leadership, funding, long-term planning, electoral participation/voter turnout and local government reorganisation), environmental and conservation policy and planning, transport policy and planning and public participation in policy and planning processes. She has extensive knowledge of the local government, resource management and conservation legislation. A particular interest is collaborative planning and governance in natural resource management.. She has been a member of the Taranaki-Whanganui Conservation Board (2004-2014) and was a member of the Horizons Regional Council Transport Committee (2005- 2010). In 2006-2007 she was a member of the independent Local Government Rates Inquiry Panel. She is an Associate Member of the New Zealand Planning Institute and a member of the core group (executive) of the New Zealand Association of Impact Assessment.
