Christopher Platts

I have recently completed a PhD in Sociology of Sport and Exercise, which examined the education and welfare provisions for young footballers undertaking a scholarship in professional football academies and centres of excellence. The study included interviews with 303 players at 21 professional football clubs across England and Wales.

Before undertaking my doctoral study, I completed an MSc in the Sociology of Sport and a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, both at the University of Chester.
