Senior Lecturer in Medical Microbiology, Edinburgh Napier University

I am a lecturer and principal investigator in the area of medical microbiology with an interest in intracellular pathogens relevant to human health. In my lab we are undertaking research to generate new knowledge to help us understand the mechanisms underpinning invasion and infection and we aim to exploit this knowledge for the design of novel antimicrobial strategies and medical biotechnology for example in the area of anti-tumour therapy. I am also active in applied microbiology and undertake knowledge exchange activities leading to cross-disciplinary approaches to tackle problems facing healthcare and industry such as in areas of infection control, food safety and microbial detection.
