Clare Torrible

Clare has previously acted as a prosecutor at the CPS and as Senior Solicitor at the Avon and Somerset Police Authority. Her research interests include evidence-based policing and police accountability mechanisms. Her doctoral research examined the relationship between civil actions against the police and police complaints, with particular emphasis on those cases where a complaint is not upheld but force legal advisors make the decision to settle the associated civil action. Her more recent projects include consultancy work evaluating an innovative police operation and case study research into police use of taser devices.
