Clément collaborates with the Regional Security Initiative at the Middle East Directions Programme of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. He holds a doctorate in sociology from EHESS and a doctorate in international history from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Geneva). He completed his thesis in Geneva in February 2011 on relations between Tehran and Moscow since 1979 from an Iranian perspective.

His research focuses on Modern History of the Middle East, Iranian foreign policy, ideology and international relations, and International History.

He is the editor of L'Iran et ses rivaux - Entre nation et révolution, Passés Composés, 2020.
