Lecturer in Ecology, Evolution and Computational Biology, Newcastle University

I am a lecturer in the School of Biology at Newcastle University. Generally speaking I study 'Cognitive Ecology', trying to understand the sensory basis of how animals interact with their environment. I use both theoretical models and experimental work. In the last few years I have spent a lot of time studying how pest insects interact with important plant crops such as tomato, with a view to developing sustainable methods of pest control.
