I write about policy issues, especially related to universities. My core policy interests are gender equality and open access, but also any areas requiring leadership for change. I head Norway's Committee on Gender Balance in Research, and I am the chair of the board of Current Research Information System in Norway, which is responsible for promoting the government's open access policy. My perspectives are evidence-based, although they also draw on my experience as Founding Director of a Center of Excellence in linguistics, CASTL, and as Pro Rector for Research at the University of Tromsø. I am now Rector at the Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences.
