Damien Van Puyvelde is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work focuses on the role of intelligence and security agencies in contemporary democracies. Before taking a position as Lecturer in Intelligence and International Security at the University of Glasgow, he was Assistant Professor at The National Security Studies Institute – An Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence at the University of Texas at El Paso. He serves as co-program chair for the Intelligence Studies Section of the International Studies Association.
Damien recently co-edited a volume on US National Cybersecurity: International Politics, Concepts and Organization (New York: Routledge, 2017). His book on U.S. Intelligence Outsourcing: Private Contractors and Government Accountability is forthcoming with Edinburgh University Press. He is also working on two co-authored books on Cybersecurity (Polity Press) and Researching National Security Intelligence (Georgetown University Press).
