I am an archaeologist and ethnoecologist who, for the last three decades has worked collaboratively with Indigenous Peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast to blend traditional knowledge with western scientific knowledge. This blending results in a richer understanding of the past, but also allows us to contextualize the past in current social and ecological contexts.
