Sport Business, SC Business School, Southern Cross University

Coming from England to play rugby union in Sydney in the late 1980s, I am currently a senior lecturer in sport business at Southern Cross University. My work has been published in a range of internationally renowned journals including Sport Marketing Quarterly, the Journal of Sport Management and Festival and Event Management. In addition I co edited 'International Cases in the Business of Sport', as well as writing a number of book chapters on various aspects of the business of sport.

I have a long record of major consultancy having worked previously with the National Rugby League, Australian Sports Commission, Pacific Islands Rugby Alliance, South Sydney District Rugby League Club and Greyhound Racing NSW. I was an accredited journalist for the Rugby World Cup. I have appeared on the ABC’s 7.30 Report as a specialist on the sponsorship of sport, have a weekly slot on ABC Radio North Coast and am often asked by the media to comment on sport business related issues.

In November 2008 I undertook my second international rugby tour as media and communications director with the combined Pacific Islands rugby union squad for Test matches against England, France and Italy. Continuing the rugby union theme I presented major findings of Mastercard's Economic Impact of the 2011 Rugby World Cup to the assembled media and guests in October. The presentation garnered 400 articles in 21 different countries worldwide.
