Associate Professor, Criminal Justice, Federation University Australia

After working as a Communications Skills Lecturer at the Victoria Police Academy, David commenced at Monash University in 1991 in the Police Studies Department. He was a senior lecturer in Criminal Justice and Criminology on the Caulfield and Clayton campuses before establishing the Criminal Justice program on the Gippsland campus in 2006.

David is presently Head, Criminal Justice, FedUni, Gippsland campus. He is the author of Batons and Blockades: Policing Industrial Disputes in Australasia, 2005, and his other research publications relate to the policing of dissent, histories of policing, comparative policing, transnational policing, police use of force and police unionism. He is an associate investigator for the ARC Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security. He is also a Chief Investigator for the ARC Linkage grant, "The Impact of Incarceration on Children's Care: A Strategic Framework for Good Care Planning".
