Lecturer in Criminal Justice, University of Leeds

I am Lecturer in Criminal Justice at the University of Leeds. I work in historical criminology and criminal justice history.

My current research focuses on policing, security and the city in modern Britain. In particular, I am working on: the role of the police and the public in urban crime control; the history of security technologies and the security industry; and the origins and future prospects of urban public parks. In each area I am interested in how historical research can inform our understanding of (and response to) present-day problems and concerns.
