Senior Lecturer in Molecular Pathology at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Cambridge

I'm a molecular geneticist who has been working in veterinary environments for about the last thirty years, and now lead a research group at Cambridge University Veterinary School, researching inherited diseases of veterinary species, and especially, those affecting dogs. Although my interest was sparked by the potential of comparative genetics and animal diseases in expanding understanding of their human counterparts, I have increasingly been interested in animal welfare aspects of my work, and so am now a trustee of the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare and of the Humane Slaughter Association. All views expressed are my own and not those of the charities.
