Deli Chen

Professor Deli Chen is the discipline leader in Soil Water, Nutrients
and Greenhouse Gases, Head, Crop and Soil Science Section and China Director in the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences and International Collaborative Research Advisor at the University of Melbourne. Director, Australia China Joint Research Centre, Healthy Soils for Sustainable Food Production and Environmental Quality.

Professor Chen holds a doctorate in Soil Science from the University of Melbourne and has over 20 years of research, teaching and consulting experience in Australia and China with the University of Melbourne; CSIRO Plant Industry; and the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His specialist expertise includes water and nutrients dynamics in plant-soil systems; GIS based agroecosystem modelling and decision support systems for optimal irrigation and fertilizer management; and the measurement and modelling of greenhouse gases emissions from land sources and impact of climate on agroecosystems.
