Dennis R. Schmidt

Research Fellow at the School of Government and International Affairs, Durham University

Dennis R. Schmidt is a Research and Teaching Fellow at the Institute of Political Science and a Research Fellow at the School of Government and International Affairs at Durham University, where he earned his doctorate. He studied International Relations and Political Science in Bamberg, London, and Durham. In 2015, he was a visiting scholar at George Washington University.

His research focuses on the politics and ethics of international law, concentrating on the role of law and institutions in a changing global order, international law on the use of force, and international criminal justice. He is also working on German Foreign Policy. He is a regular media commentator on global affairs and international legal issues.
