Dr Merrilyn Delporte

I am a sessional academic teaching Public Relations at QUT, and International Politics at Swinburne Online University. I also have a research, communications and engagement consultancy, helping organisations reach their social objectives. I have a special interest in refugees and social justice issues. My professional background includes eight years working as a foreign policy advisor with PM&C and DFAT (1998-2005); and three years working as policy and communications advisor with State and Federal MPs in Brisbane (2014-2017). I completed my PhD in 2019 specialising in a stakeholder's perspective of advocacy communications, using the campaign for better treatment of Australia's asylum seekers as a case study..
