Senior Lecturer Photography, Cardiff Metropolitan University

I am an experienced photographer, educator and researcher who has taught Photography and the History and Theory of Contemporary Art and Lens-based Media on undergraduate and post-graduate courses in a number of UK universities. I have held teaching positions at various institutions including Cardiff Metropolitan University, University of West London, and University of Gloucestershire.

As a researcher, practitioner and visiting speaker I have contributed to a range of national and international conferences and exhibitions on Photography and Spatial Culture, including the Photographic History Research Centre, the Association of Art Historians, the Slade School of Art, the Bartlett School of Architecture and TU Wien: Vienna University of Technology.

My research explores the diversity of strategies found in contemporary photographic practice and art, focusing in particular on collaborative project platforms that exist outside the gallery space and photographic practices that explore urban spatial politics. My research interests include the question of the agency of cultural production in urban ecologies, the material and virtual commons, and experimental research-led cartographies.
