Associate Professor of Surgery and Medical Education, Medical Humanities and Bioethics, Northwestern University

Dr. Gordon is Associate Professor in the Center for Healthcare Studies and Comprehensive Transplant Center in the Department of Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Gordon completed her doctorate in Medical Anthropology at Case Western Reserve University. Thereafter, she completed a Fellowship in Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago. Dr. Gordon obtained her Master’s degree in Public Health from University of Illinois, Chicago, specializing in Community Health Sciences. Her research interests include: ethics of organ transplantation and donation, health disparities in access to health care and health outcomes, informed consent, self-care & chronic illness management, health literacy, and qualitative research & mixed methods. Dr. Gordon has received funding from the NIDDK, NIAID, NINR, and HRSA for her research in transplantation and decision aids. Dr. Gordon currently serves as the Vice Chair of the UNOS Ethics Committee, Member of the UNOS Policy Oversight Committee, Treasurer of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, and Associate Editor for the American Journal of Transplantation.
