Elodie Paillard

Principal Investigator of a research project on Ancient Greek Theatre in Roman Italy, sponsored by the Swiss National Science Foundation, at the University of Basel (Switzerland). Also Partner Investigator in an Australian Research Council project on 'Theatre and Autocracy'.
Currently in a long research-stay at the University of Sydney, working on those two projects as well as on ancient democracy and the structure of society.
Member of the editorial board of the journal 'Mediterranean Archaeology'.
Areas of expertise: ancient theatre and its relations to power and society, ancient and modern emergence of democracy, use of Classical ideas in modern society.
