Emily C Weinstein

Doctoral Student, Harvard University

Emily's research focuses on the intersection of youth development and new media. She is interested in digital citizenship, broadly defined, and the multiple roles of social media in youth's experiences. Emily's qualifying paper explored online civic expression patterns among 70 young civic actors. She subsequently collaborated with colleagues on a follow-up study to investigate whether and how those youths' expression patterns changed over a several year period. In addition, Emily is interested in how to support youth around issues of digital abuse, and worked on a series of studies related to MTV's A Thin Line campaign and Over the Line? platform. Emily also works as a research assistant on The Good Participation Project at Project Zero, which is part of the MacArthur Research Network on Youth and Participatory Politics and as a consultant to with the Education team at Common Sense Media.
